Maya Kurien

City & State Policy Advisor

Maya Kurien advances climate policy at the city and state level to drive systems-level change. She brings more than a decade of experience navigating complex challenges in government, policy, and the civic sector, leading coalitions that secured major wins in housing, economic development, and infrastructure. She has also advised nonprofits and business associations on strategy, advocacy, and operations.

Maya previously served as Vice President of Advocacy at the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and as Executive Director of Government Affairs at the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). She chairs the board of HOPE Community, Inc. and serves on the board of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. Recognized by City & State New York as an Asian American Trailblazer and a 40 Under 40 rising political leader, she holds degrees from SOAS and University College London and has completed executive coursework in Project Management at Harvard University.
